Your 2025 Complete Guide to ServiceTitan

If you’re a service contractor, you know how much of a hassle it can be keeping track of all your business data. It’s hard enough managing data in an office job, so when you work in an industry where you’re constantly going out in the field, it’s that much harder not to lose track of things.

Fortunately, there’s software that can help you keep your data organized. One of the most popular software options is ServiceTitan, which a lot of service contractors rely on. But what is ServiceTitan, exactly? In this complete guide to ServiceTitan, we’ll answer that question and more, including:

You can get answers to all of those questions further down on the page!

What is ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan is a field service management (FSM) software application designed for service contractors. That means it helps contractors manage business data, complete tasks, and do many other things involved in running a business. Basically, it’s a one-stop shop for all your business management needs.

Who uses ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan is designed for — and used by — service contractors. That includes industries like:

  • HVAC
  • Pest control
  • Plumbing
  • Roofing
  • Landscaping
  • And more!

This platform is also ideal for medium to large businesses. For one thing, it has a ton of features, so it’s easier to use with a larger team of people to manage it. Also, it can be an expensive tool, so larger businesses are more likely to find room for it in their budget. That’s not to say small businesses can’t take advantage of it as well, though.

How does ServiceTitan work?

If you’re interested in using ServiceTitan, the biggest question on your mind might be, “How does ServiceTitan work?”

It’s hard to sum up ServiceTitan’s capabilities in just one or two sentences, because it can do so many different things. However, you can get a picture of how it works by looking at some of the different features it includes, such as:

  1. Marketing
  2. Scheduling
  3. Accounting
  4. Customer outreach
  5. Data reporting

Let’s look at each of those features in more detail below!

1. Marketing

ServiceTitan allows you to run various marketing campaigns through the platform. Those campaigns include paid advertising, email marketing, and more. You can also use ServiceTitan to track what customers are saying about you in online reviews, and to keep up with marketing expenses and revenue.

2. Scheduling

Scheduling appointments is a big part of any service contractor’s job, and ServiceTitan makes it easy. In addition to scheduling appointments in the platform, you can also use it to remind you of upcoming appointments and view all scheduled appointments at once via the platform’s calendar tool.

3. Accounting

The accounting feature in ServiceTitan lets you easily track all transactions at your business — both expenses and revenue. You can view payments from customers, bank deposits, invoices, and more. That makes it easy to keep up with where your money is going at any given time.

4. Customer outreach

ServiceTitan allows you to easily contact your customers via text message, so you can keep track of your conversations right there in the platform. If you want, you can also set it up so that customers can track your location through ServiceTitan to see how close you are (similar to Uber).

5. Data reporting

All the features listed so far are valuable, but for you to get the most out of them, you’ll want to keep track of various metrics associated with each one. For that, you can use ServiceTitan’s reporting capabilities.

You can view a lot of different data about everything from marketing to accounting, and you can also customize the dashboard on the home screen to show the metrics that are most important to you.

How much does ServiceTitan cost?

ServiceTitan does not publish information online about its pricing. Rather, it displays three separate plans — Starter, Essentials, and The Works — and requires you to request a quote to get the pricing for each one.

A price tag of $398 per month (for the Starter plan) has been cited in various places online, but not from verified sources, so it’s unclear if that’s an accurate price.

What are some ServiceTitan alternatives?

Maybe you’re interested in having an FSM, but you want something other than ServiceTitan. If so, there are a few different alternatives you can choose from, including:

  1. Payzerware
  2. Housecall Pro
  3. FieldPulse

Here’s a brief overview of each one:

1. Payzerware

Price: $399+ per month

Payzerware is an FSM platform offered by Payzer, which is used by many contractors in place of ServiceTitan. One of its standout qualities is that it has much better customer service than ServiceTitan, responding quickly and helpfully to questions and concerns.

You should note that Payzerware isn’t the only tool offered by Payzer. In fact, the base Payzer app is a mobile processing tool, and doesn’t include any FSM capabilities. If you’re looking for a ServiceTitan alternative, make sure you’re looking at Payzerware, not Payzer.

2. Housecall Pro

Price: $59+ per month

Housecall Pro is another widely used ServiceTitan alternative. This platform has a very user-friendly interface, both in-office and in the field, and it integrates smoothly with numerous other business tools (like Quickbooks). In direct contrast with ServiceTitan, Housecall regularly adds new features without jacking up prices.

Unlike Payzerware, however, Housecall Pro doesn’t have the best reputation for good customer service. The platform can also be difficult to access in the field when you don’t have good service. However, those downsides may be worth it to you given the low price.

3. FieldPulse

Price: $99+ per user per month

FieldPulse is a great example of a platform that gives you more for less. Though it’s more expensive than Housecall Pro, it’s still vastly more affordable than ServiceTitan, despite having a similar range of features. Also, like Payzerware, this platform has much better customer service than ServiceTitan does.

On the downside, FieldPulse is lacking on the integration side of things. Unlike Housecall, it struggles to connect to Quickbooks. If you like to use Quickbooks, FieldPulse might not be the right choice.

Is ServiceTitan worth it?

To wrap up our complete guide to ServiceTitan, let’s answer probably the biggest question still on your mind: Is ServiceTitan worth the investment?

As you can probably guess, it depends.

Firstly, it depends on the size of your business. If you run a small business, or even if you’re a large business with a small budget, ServiceTitan may not be worth it. It’s an incredibly expensive tool, and given the issues it has with customer service, it might be more trouble than it’s worth.

On the other hand, if you have room for it in the budget, and you have a big enough team to help you manage it, it could be a great investment. You can get a lot of benefit out of using ServiceTitan to help you keep track of your data and manage various business processes.

Ultimately, only you can decide if ServiceTitan is the right choice for you, but you should make your decision based on your company’s needs and capabilities.
